Dear WWOOFER’s and – well – everyone who is after a natural life

We are so happy to announce the first WWOOF Israel Seminar that will happen
between the 17.12.2010 - 18.12.2010 of December.
The Seminar will take place in a special accommodation site located in an organic farm
in the Lower Galilee of northern Israel, and we think it is a wonderful opportunity
to join for two days the way of life of a Permaculture farm and learn
how the family make their own goat cheese, how they construct with green materials,
and how recycling can be integrated in our day to day lives.
We have put some thought and preparations into the event and we hope
that besides the wisdom and intelligence it will be a great chance to meet
with people that are enthusiastic about the WWOOF and the natural way of life we support,
so prepare for a festival.

A brief about the Workshops

Cheese Making – Will cover the whole process of cheese making including the milking of the goats,
the history of cheese making, what turns milk into cheese, the secrets of the milk industry,
the qualities of goat cheese and comparison to other milk types, and more…
The workshop combines theory and explanations while experience making goat cheese,
and we will have the opportunity to try different types of cheese.

Vegetables Gardens and Compost – The importance of feeding plants for human beings’
use and the theory that lies behind. Fruit trees: tasting tour and explanations,
the structure of vegetable gardens in the two ways implemented on the farm: Permaculture and Biointensive,
growing seasonal crops, seed conservations, and more.
We will create together a Permaculture garden-bed, from construction until seeding.
General outlines and methods of making compost including compost toilets (“dry” toilets).

Herbs – In Permaculture, the “wild” area is considered as very important.
We will learn the reasons and significance behind it.
We will walk through our “wild” area and learn what type of plants and herbs
can be gathered for food and what types of casseroles we can make of them.
Together we will make lunch and bake pastry in our ground oven.

Working with the soil – The soil as a row material. We will go through historical use of the soil
and current uses (including pictures and videos), different soil mixtures for different uses,
examining the local soil as a construction material, actively experience making a soil mixture
and preparing soil bricks.
